Why is my discovery failing with the error “Skipping device xx.xx.xx.xx as walkfile doesn't exist”?

Discovery fails with the message “Skipping device 10.8.10.33 as walkfile doesn't exist”

This error indicates issues with the device's response to SNMP requests.

If you are using Statseeker 5.6.2 the first thing to check is that you have the latest Service Pack - 1.0.5 which has fixes for some discovery issues.

If you have an earlier version can you please install this Service Pack which can be downloaded from the page linked below:

The next thing to try is to reduce the Max Repetitions value which lowers the concurrent SNMP requests to the device.

I suggest deleting the device and then re-adding it by:

1. Go to the "Discover My Network" page in the "Network Discovery" section of the Admin Tool GUI.
2. Click the "Customize And Run" button on the "Manual Device Addition" panel"
3. Enter the device IP Address and SNMP Credentials and then expand the options by clicking the "Show Advanced Options" button.
4. Expand the SNMP Options by clicking on the bar.
5. Change the Max Simultaneous Device Walks to 1 and the Max Repetitions to 10.
6. Leave the panel expanded and run the discovery by clicking the "Start Discovery" button at the bottom.

If this does not work, deleteg the device again and go to the same section and click the "Use Getnext" slider and run the discovery again.

If that does not work repeati this again using the "Minimal Walk" slider.
